One morning while I was taking a shower, I tried to think of some good names for Pookie and Simone. I came up with "Simone" right away, but it took a little longer to come up with a good name for Pookie. However, by the time my shower was complete (about an hour later), I had already forgotten the name I had picked out for her.

I decided I needed help naming Pookie, so I sent email messages to my brothers, sister, parents, nieces, and nephews asking them to vote on Pookie's name. I gave them three choices - I don't remember for sure what the third one was, but I'm pretty sure that "Pookie" and "Jasmine" were the other two. The third might have been "Samantha", but I am not certain about that.

I received a couple of write-in votes, and I don't think any of the adults voted for "Pookie", but many of the nieces and nephews did, and "Pookie" was the winner by a wide margin.
