CAT TALES
My Second Pair Of Cats
(Pookie and Simone)

Where I used to work, there was a narrow one-lane paved access road which went around to the back of the building where the loading dock is. The UPS trucks (and other delivery trucks) drive around there a couple of times a day.

Pookie and Simone

One dark and rainy evening at quitting time, one of the gals at work discovered two wet and crying kittens sitting in the middle of the access road, huddled together in a puddle of water. UPS was due to arrive any minute, and they were in a prime position to be run over. Naturally, she rescued them and she spent several minutes searching through the neighboring bushes for other kittens (she didn't find any others).

She already had a house full of kids and pets, so she couldn't keep the new kittens long term - after she had them for about a week she talked me into taking them. So, Pookie and Simone came to live with Mike and Ike and me, bringing my cat count to four for the next three years - until the acquisition of my five new feral cats.
